Do You Have Any Questions?
Does organic food taste better?
How old is Paushtik Life?
Why does organic food cost more?
Organic food doesn’t always cost more — some items may cost the same or even less. As demand increases, prices will come down. A few reasons for the premium:
- Organic farmers receive no fertilizer subsidies unlike conventional farmers
- The price reflects the true cost of growing — conventional prices don’t include environmental cleanup costs
- Organic farming is more labor and management intensive
- Smaller farm sizes mean no economies of scale
How do I know if a product is organic?
A label helps you identify whether a product is organic. An internationally recognized certification body certifies the products. An organic seal assures consumers of the quality and integrity — certified operations must have an organic system plan and records that verify compliance.

It is with great pleasure that we make this announcement. Some may consider us small—and they are free to do so—but we have long believed in the song of moving forward with small steps; that very spirit inspires us to journey toward the Kolkata International Book Fair. At the 'Baranagar Darpan' stall, we are ready to demonstrate—beyond the mere pursuit of fame—how we successfully bring the writings of both veteran and emerging authors to readers, including our special Sharadiya (festive) editions. This year at the fair, we are featuring works by renowned authors Amar Mitra, Prabuddha Mitra, Gautam Dey, Tapas Roy, Alok Goswami, and Arghya Ghosh, as well as poet Nandini Sarkar. We are also delighted to present books—spanning short stories, novels, horror tales, and poetry—by author Mahibul Alam, joining us all the way from Australia. Baranagar Darpan: A Mirror to Literature. Read books; gift books.
Guided by the wisdom of veteran writers and the energy of emerging voices, Baranagar Darpan brings together poets and authors on merit — not advertising — having introduced readers to more than four hundred writers to date, including the largest gathering of talent for our upcoming Sharadiya edition, 'Parul Sharad Arghya 1429'.
